Hanging Stringers
Used metal joist hangers which made life a lot easier. Nice gut, Andrew...
Strength Test
I dunno, I think it moved a bit. I think we need more wood.
Frame is Done
All the 2by6's are in. Now all we have to do are the 2by4 top stringers and the decking (you will see...) Hey, weren't my sawhorses clean before?
Starting Deck Layout
Starting to lay out the T&G for the decking.
Sorting Lumber
We have enough wood (one less thing to worry about). Didn't Donna do a great job staining?
Deck Goes Down
Lots of screws, this deck isn't going anywhere.
Deck Takes Shape
Almost half way done. Had to do the math a few times to make sure 500 screws was going to be enough...
Deck is Done
Alright, apparently I still can't do real math... I thought I had a box of 500 screws. I have NONE left... How did that happen? Yes, we pre-drilled all the holes.
View Before Trim
All down and fit, now I only need to trim it off. Doesn't that look pretty?
Trimmed and Sanding
Everything is screwed down and I have trimmed the edges (still not a fan of my circular saw). Now just giving it an overall sanding before the second coat of sealer/stain.
Concrete Legacy
Right, there were concrete steps under the wooden ones. Damn.. I am going to have to measure very carefully.
Stain Finished
Does that not look spiff. Second coat of stain is on and I am happier that everything will survive the winter.
Porch with Stairs
The stairs are finally done. Andrew now has a new appreciation for how fiddly stairs can be.
Porch with Stairs, Side View
The new stairs from the side. That stain doesn't look too bad on the pressure treated wood...
